I love the covers on this series! Does anyone know who drew them? The style looks a bit like Bill Everett with a dash of Basil Wolverton.

that's Matt Fox. I also thought there was a hint of Wolverton about it. weirdly atmospheric stuff, eh?
i first noticed this artist in some of the early-60s Marvel titles, e.g. Strange Tales.

Yeah, good stuff. Both selections here feature Matt Fox covers and a Matt Fox story is in 13, "Hand of Glory". The other two stories are drawn by Harry Harrison.

I also first noticed Matt Fox in Strange Tales, #113 in fact. He inked over Larry Leiber pencils, so of course he overwhelmed the pencils. He also inked Leiber's pencils in ST # 110 and 111, available here on cylcops.

He probably did more, I'm in the process of upgrading my scans.

For years after reading that story, I wondered why Leiber's pencils looked like crap on anything I saw. I must not have owned that issue, or lost it, because while I remembered Leiber's name, I had forgotten Fox's name. I was damn young though, and it was years after it was published that I read it, so
I had to wait many years before I saw that combo again.
