Movie : Things To Come (1936)

What will the next hundred years bring to mankind?

Along one hundred year, mankind lives a long period of war from 1940 to 1966; then a plague destroys half of the worldwide population; and finally a group of scientists reconstruct the society bringing progress. Each one of these eras is disclosed in the city of Everytown, in England: during the war, the city is completely destroyed. Then with the plague, the ill people called wanderings are killed by the survivors. One day, a weird airplane lands and the pilot tells that he belongs to a scientific community called Wings Over the World and their mission is to rebuild the societies, using a gas to make people peaceful. In 2036, in a modern Everytown, an opponent of the progress raises the population against the system.

TV: Thriller

repost (just trying to get these together in one post for easier access)
Here is another one from the very cool suspense thriller series starring Boris Karloff
(If your not familiar with this series it was somewhat similar to Alfred Hitchcock's TV series or the Twilight Zone)
1961 Season 2 Episode 11
Dialogues with Death
Two separate tales: In "Friend of the Dead", a morgue attendent (Boris Karloff) seems to be able to have conversations with the corpses, and in "Welcome Home", a young couple arrive at the home of their aunt and uncle (Boris again)who seem to believe the pair are dead.

Season 1 Episode 15: the cheaters - Dec 1960
49 minutes

An old, mysterious pair of eyeglasses offer a unique advantage to the wearer—the ability to read the thoughts of others. But there's a price to pay for such wonderful magic, as those who don the glasses ultimately suffer a violent death.

This episode is based on a story by Robert Bloch, well known to genre fans as the man who penned the novel on which Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho was based. Character actor Harry Townes should be equally familiar, having guest appearances on other genre shows such as The Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Outer Limits, Star Trek, and Night Gallery, to name just a few.

Comic: Weird War Tales

Weird War Tales was a war comic book title with supernatural overtones published by DC Comics which ran from September 1971 to June 1983.

The title was an anthology series that told war related stories with science fiction, horror, mystery and suspense. Each issue was hosted by Death, usually depicted as a skeleton dressed in a different military uniform each issue. Recurring characters began to appear late in the series run, notably the Creature Commandos, G.I. Robot, and the return of The War That Time Forgot (which originally ran in Star Spangled War Stories). Other stories would often feature robot soldiers, ghosts, the undead, and other paranormal characters from different eras of time.

The original title ran for 12 years and 124 issues (1971-1983).
Weird War Tales was revived by the DC Comics imprint Vertigo. In 1997. it published a four-issue limited series followed by a single-issue special in 2000.

Several fine comics creators worked on the series including writers:

• J. M. DeMatteis
• Garth Ennis
• Arnold Drake
• Jack C. Harris
• Robert Kanigher
• Steve Gerber
• Sheldon Mayer
• Jack Oleck

Artists that contributed include:

• Joe Kubert, series editor
• Alfredo Alcala
• Reed Crandall
• Tony DeZuniga
• Mort Drucker
• Russ Heath
• Alex Nino
• Frank Robbins
• Frank Thorne
• Alex Toth

Movie:Oh, Mr. Porter! (1937)

Oh, Mr Porter! is a British comedy film released in 1937 starring Will Hay with Moore Marriott and Graham Moffatt and directed by Marcel Varnel. While not his most commercially successful, it is probably his best-known film to modern audiences. It is widely acclaimed as the best of Hay's work, and a classic of its time and genre.

The plot of Oh, Mr Porter was loosely based on the Arnold Ridley play The Ghost Train and was later remade (with a naval setting) as Up the Creek (1958) with David Tomlinson and Peter Sellers. The title was taken from Oh! Mr Porter, a music hall song.

Jimmy Perry said that the triumvirate of Captain Mainwaring, Corporal Jones and Private Pike in Dad's Army was inspired by watching Oh, Mr Porter
