It's the least I can do. I've gotten a TON of stuff from the site. I just want to give back. Next five issues shortly.
Thank you so much for these early 2000ad comics. When they first came out I snapped up every issue. Sadly though, I think I gave them all away. I remember cutting them up too. God knows why! I think they had things you could cut out inside them. Can't remember what happened to my space spinner. Must have flown over the fence.
Anyway, I look forward to re-reading these comics and encourage others to have a look. Great stuff.
The Galaxy's Greatest Comic!
I used to be obsessed with my weekly dose of Thrill-Power. Original variations on scifi adventure themes, sometimes a bit twisted and often very funny, even verging on satirical.
From about Progs (issues) 200 to 550, or thereabouts, there were some really excellent stories.
e.g. Halo Jones, Bad Company, The Dead, Sooner or Later, Harry 20, D.R. and Quinch, as well as the long-term regulars like Strontium Dog, Robo-Hunter, ABC Warriors, Nemesis (not that new superhero thing with the same name) and Tharg's Future Shocks.
"Script-Droids" included Pat Mills, John Wagner, Alan Moore, Steve Moore (Pedro Henry), Pete Milligan and Alan Grant.
"Art-Droids" counted Brendan McCarthy, Alan Davis, MIKE McMAHON, Brian Bolland, Bryan Talbot, Cam Kennedy, Steve Dillon, Glenn Fabry, Carlos Ezquerra, Ian Gibson, Brett Ewins and Kevin O'Neill among their numbers.
Truly "Zarjaz" it was, in its hey-day.

So, I was looking through that for interesting runs of progs and noticed "Skizz" by Alan Moore and Jim Baikie, the story about a peaceful and intelligent alien lifeform who lands in modern Britain, and finds it wanting. That runs from 308 to 330 and in those same progs there are also quite a few of Moore's one-off future shocks etc, as well as a classic RoboHunter yarn by John Wagner/Alan Grant and Ian Gibson.
But then, a bit further on I noticed how progs 335 to 351 contain Nemesis book 3 (which is awesome) as well as some of Mike McMahons legendary work on Slaine!
But, hmm, where was Halo Jones? I wondered. Well, book 1 of it (a mere 10 progs worth) runs thru progs 376 to 385, I discovered, and then I noticed that almost concurrently with that ran the Strontium Dog epic "Outlaw," which also ended in prog 385 but began back in prog 363, which is also where "D.R. & Quinch Go To Hollywood" began, another all-time classic.
And then I remembered how once you started buying 2000AD, you could never stop, cos whenever one storyline ended, two more would already have got you hooked.
And thus my youth was spent, and I enjoyed it immensely.
I don't know if this is a request for scans (it seems like a heck of a lot) or maybe just a rambling load of reminiscence. I'll just stop.
