Update- even more stuff taken down recently (May 22 2010)
update: there have been some worries about closing down the site (Ive posted some stuff Google blog didn't approve of.) If the site does go down i wanted folks to know..
I'm trying to keep this site going by removing allot of the posts which could get me in trouble. so i decided to move allot of tv and movie videos to my other site Buddhas drive in. This has all videos that were at Behind the counter and also now has most of the tv and movie stuff i posted here also. If your interested in these videos go.
here is Buddhas drivein
also just in case this blog goes down i started a backup where folks can find me (I havent mirrored the comic posts there yet) I used a similar name so it should be easy to find
the crosseyed cyclops
if your wondering what/why here is a repost of a earlier post that explained more:

snatch the pebble from my hand....
You may want to start clicking links and bookmarking the download address's. Google took down 'behind the counter' and also one of my other sites recently - this could go at anytime. (Or may not) if you want something i strongly suggest grabbing favs first and allot of bookmarking.
If this site goes down i wanted to say..
We've shared in all types of genres that touched us in childhood and beyond and that I think is pretty damn cool - that one world sharing a moment thing (Ya I know its cliche but it is nonetheless true).
I never wanted money or praise (outside of the occasional thank you) but I do want folks to think about 'paying it forward'. Keep the comic sharing going, share a digital comic with a friend, buy a comic for a young kid who may never had one (or a cool one) - in effect pass on the dream. Above all what i'm trying to say is Help someone out in some way when they are in need and 'zenjoy'.

Thanks again for everything!!
Wow, wonderful!!
I hope old magazine scans - like those of Astounding, Galaxy, & Amazing Stories - survive too. Some of us come here primarily for them.
And thanks. I don't think I've said that before here.
Please keep the flame burning! I love this site, misspelled url included! Thank you so much for everything!
I have quietly enjoyed and benefited from you site for over a year now. Before it's too late to do so i want to add my thanks.
Good luck keeping this up and running.
Thanks for your work! I've found on your blog a lot of stuff I used to read as a kid, and now can enjoy them once again.
Cheers!
Thanks for all the kind words folks, These responses are what is going to keep me fired up and keep on going.
How does it feel to be the architect of one of the deepest, richest mines of wonderful stuff anywhere on the internet? Thanks on behalf of all of us who now have the magazine/comics collections of our dreams - thanks to you.
w m. m a h e r. - Big words to live up too. and a hearty your very welcome - hopefully even more rare finds will find there way to you soon, as always more coming till they shut me down :)
They're stealing our culture and your basement is being plundered. That's sad news on returning after a lengthy absence. Best wishes in your future preservationist efforts. I don't know the words to express my thanks.
You really have a great site. I was really getting into "comicsworld.wordpress" and they just shut it down abruptly. Does anybody have any info on wha happened?

zen-do you have backups for all your posts/links yet ...just in case...yet?
just curious as I downloaded 90% of what I wanted from your site, stored it on carbonite(an online backup site) and they deleted most of my files! seems they don't do "storage" just backup. so if I deleted a file, it aint backed up.
so I have to start all over again. just after comicsworld...I worry if there is time for such a task. :(
the internet is so cool and yet so crappy......
Scott - i have a html file that i update every week or so that contains everything - only problem is its everything (pictures links ect) still cant figure out how to edit out the extras or reupload it to another blog.. but it is there
To remove extra files and only save jpg's in the comicsworld html directories, I use a freeware program called windows commander. I keep my downloads in a seperate subdirectory and tell this program to search for the files (gif's-jpg's not associated with the rar files-and any other files) then feed them to a listbox. I scroll down the files and if they are all ones I want to delete, I select all and delete them. Then the original html directory only retains the jpg's of the comics within the rar files. After all this I move the htm file to that directory and have everything right there. A friend tells me that he unzips all the rar's first before he stores the files on dvd but I guess I'll just chance it that when the time comes, They'll unzip for me. Hope this is helpful. - - pisgahbill@verizon.net
Thanks a million, this is great!
hi, i just stumbled on your blog. great stuff!
i'm a big fan of Bruce Jones. can you please add rapidshare/hotfile links to the Twisted Tales of Bruce Jones?
megaupload is not available here
thanks
Thank you very much for all the Kirby reprints!
Thanks for all the great comics! One of my favorite places to visit.
I can't thank you enough!
I'm so bummed-out ! I've enjoyed popping in and out to see what is new, old and interesting. I can understand that big corporations feel that they own absolutely everything. You've made me smile - reading comics that - in my youth costed 10-to-13 cents - now are not available anywhere else - at any cost. Thanks for all your hard work on our behalf.
Regards,
Thomas
Thank you Zen Tiger - just downloaded a ton of AWESOME comics!
Does it help you if we leave a comment when a download has been taken off the provider's server or when the page linked to is no longer available?
It was a nice honeymoon, reconnecting with old favoured comics from childhood... though I still have not found a few that I lost from the ex.... (sighs)... it matters not, they might turns up... like the "My Name is Chaos" two volume comics, lost, gone... either thrown out or given to her kids, my ex did.... doesn't matter, and other hard to find comics that I have found through out my childhood... ah well.
Now I just wanna downloads the Primal comics and then be done, no more downloads, time to get going and work to make money and get out of here.
It's a pity, though, this rich resource shut down because some people don't like the free library aspect of it... doesn't matter, we will always prevails, no matter what.
I hopes to give something back one day... until then, no worries.
This has been the best site for lost comics, it was nice catching up, and even nicer reading new (old) comics for the first time, like the missing Gold Key collections that I had wanted for most of my life and yet never could afford, and here it is, it's great. Much appreciated.
Dare to be free! Dare to be Libearty! FREEDOM!!!!
Dang "BlogSpot" and other repressive sites. They near always shut sites down, before I even know they existed.
You "had" several comics/eBooks that I needed to complete 2 collections. Sadly, some were on Megaupload. And other have vanished from RapidShare, or are unavailable.
Glad many movies are still available.
Belatedly, I wish to thank you for the time & efforts you gave your webpages.
I never was a comic book reader really but heres my scoop. I remember stumbling onto this site years ago and my first impression was OMFG THERE ARE SO MANY COMICS OF ALL KINDS! LIterally a comic for every genre and type. I found this amazing and continued to find such awesome comics that I never knew existed and were so cool, and became so interested and happy with finding this site. Havent been on this site in along while but after coming back to it in 2014 I was shocked when I saw that many of the links died, and not only will this site be discontinued, but it may go down. Really heart broken and angry that you were forced to take of so much of your stuff due to google and 3rd parties being major stiff aholes. Dont really want to go into a rant but it will be awful and such a big loss if this site does go down. I really want this site to not only remain, but grow and thrive. I hope things turn out for the better.
And of course..... THANK YOU SO MUCH.
