Dave, I just spent a nice Sunday afternoon reading these. Thanks. I found a few artists I didn't know about. The stories in these Atlas books aren't always strong, and sometimes very weak, but the art is pretty interesting. Harry Anderson is very close to Williamson in style. Matt Fox is almost as bizarre as Wolverton.
Hello Mark, very cool man! your welcome. glad you like the Uncanny Tales. it is true some stories are better than others but sometimes the art work is so outstanding it makes it good. if you know what i mean. comics i think are the best of both worlds for those of us who like to read a lot. not only do you get stories sometimes some awesome ones but you get the very cool art work too! not to mention those great covers from some of the best comics artists ever.
A gallery of Matt Fox illustrations has been posted at http://goldenagecomicbookstories.blogspot.com/search/label/Matt%20Fox This includes painted covers for Weird Tales, several comic book stories and covers, and interior illos for magazines. Over 50 pieces of art. The comics include examples of his inking the pencils of Gil Kane and Larry Leiber for Atlas. This a great blog, it also has an incredible amount of art from books and magazines going back to the beginning of the last century.
These are spotlighted items - not always 'old' because of when they were made but rather these are things that were posted awhile ago on this blog and have been 'archived' in the back.
