This is one of the finest examples of Prog I've ever heard. If you love King Crimson (as I do) this recording will blow you away. Simply put, they sound MORE like "red" era Crimson than Crimson DID!"Anekdoten is the most famous example of the new Scandinavian School. This trend mixes dark and gloomy influences with an extreme energy a bit in the way of King Crimson on "Red" or Univers Zero. The orchestration includes Mellotron and cello (All performed by the pretty vocalist Anna Sofi Dahlberg!) and allows to turn in one second from a vaporous atmosphere to the paroxysm of frenzy." I first found Anekdoten in 1997--and it blew me away. I was and remain a tremendous fan of the 1st incarnation of Krimson, and A. strikes me as carrying on the tradition without doing mindless copy. I soon found that there were a number of good bands in Scandanavia and South America that worked the same fertile fields! South America! Who woulda thunk it? But in my naive and somewhat provincial way, I assumed that Prog would be unknown in other countries. Ha! I have since found music from all over the world that works in a shared global range of styles, including my faves, such as space rock, what some call "post-rock", and others. THANK you for helping spread the good word! Rock on, heh-heh, rock on!

There seems to be a very nice global community of this sort of music--may I can it Prog? Or Drone...or what? It has so many names--like a cat!!
