Not for 'pureists' but if your a fan of Grindhouse films and a fan of Star Wars i have come across the greatest thing ever - Star Wars the grindhouse edition fanedit! Complete reworking of the original tale with Grindhouse cuts and scratches added to a newly edited film. Deleted scenes and alternate takes are used along with behind the scene clips and also edits from other stuff like 'Troops'. This has been lovingly done by the Man Behind the Mask. Now youll want to expect a true grindhouse experience complete with a projection room burnout of the film which is followed by a reel in black and white. Some additional effects (like a few bloody laser shots) and also a appearance by Neil Young in the canteena make for a fun filled flashback which you think you may have seen before but it was never like this.
even if you didnt like the original Star Wars (you heathen) give this a try. Its available at some sites and also on torrents - go search it out, youll be glad you did. How often can one wonder if you just saw jeans on R2d2? That question will be answered within!

Hey Zen. I had heard about a fan edit once in a while but I didn't realize it was a whole movement!
The grindhouse Star Wars was fun, it could have been a lot better - he cut many of the best lines and one-liners were always part of the grindhouse experience (I think)(at least to me decades later watching at home). I'm watching the Jaws Sharksploitation edit now, only 20 minutes in. I only saw the original movie once about twenty years ago so I have no fan worship bis to get over. So far it's damn impressive! Thanks for this link.
ya i watched 'sharksloitation' last night too - what a edit!!! I cant say any of these ar ebetter than the originals but ive had a fun ride with both of the 'man behind the mask' edits so far and i will be looking for more of his work in the future.. and ya its amazing the fanedit 'culture' that has sprung up in just the last year.. i was very weary of downloading any of them till the star wars one (which your right it did loose some great one liners ) Im going to try a few more for sure just to see if anyone else is editing as good as these. (I found a evil dead2 edit called book of the dead - going to try that next!)
